Manipur: Security Forces Recover Multiple Arms And Ammunition Amid Ongoing Search Operations For Missing Youth

Security forces have launched intense search operations for 20 year-old Manipuri youth Luwangthem Mukesh, who is missing since 16 March.

Manipur Police is being assisted by Assam Rifles, and other security agencies in the search efforts are concentrating efforts around Bishnupur and Churachandpur border areas, Joujangtek, and Old Cachar Road areas, ANI reported.

Officials are using advanced technical data analysis and intelligence gathering to trace him.

Manipur Police appealed to citizens to approach them with any information that could lead to the missing person.

Security personnel undertook area domination operations in sensitive areas, and major recoveries of arms and ammunition were made.

During the search, the security forces confiscated weapons and ammunition in Imphal West district's Langol Housing Complex

The weapons and ammunition recovered include:

  • Two SLR rifles along with magazines carrying 20 rounds

  • Two INSAS rifles with 20-round magazines

  • Two SMG carbines, eight BP plates, and seven BP vests

  • Camouflage uniforms and tactical equipment


    • One .303 rifle, ammunition, and charger clips from Haotak Awang Leikai

  • Three INSAS rifles, two SLRs, and rifle magazines from Chingdong Leikai

  • Security forces arrested several suspected Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) militants on 27 March, including:

    • Leishangthem Hiran Singh (40) of KCP(PWG), involved in extortion

  • Likmabam Amujao Meitei (27) of KCP-PSC, arrested in Imphal East

  • Loitongbam Boyai Singh (45) and Khumanthem Dhanabir Singh (28) of KCP(Taibanganba), arrested in Thoubal District

  • A bunker in Kangpokpi District was demolished.

    Safe passage for 572 vital goods trucks on NH-2 and NH-37 was provided by security forces, with tight security arrangements in place.

    A total of 111 security nakas have been installed in Manipur.
