BSP chief Mayawati
The Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Wednesday (5 June) expressed disappointment at the lack of support the party got from the Muslim community.
She emphasised that future opportunities for the community to be represented by the party will be given only after careful consideration to prevent significant losses like those experienced in the the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Mayawati's statement comes after the BSP failed to open account in Uttar Pradesh in this Lok Sabha Election.
"Despite being given proper representation in several past elections and this time too in the Lok Sabha general elections, the Muslim community has not been able to fully understand the BSP," Mayawati said in a statement.
Bahujan Samaj Party, which contested 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, could not manage to win even a seat.
In UP, where it had won 10 seats in the last Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal, the party was trailing at third or fourth position on most of the seats.
