The first trainset of the Meerut Metro was handed over by Alstom to NCRTC's Managing Director Vinay Kumar Singh at the manufacturing facility in Gujarat's Savli on Friday (16 February).

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, Meerut Metro will run on the same Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) infrastructure that is being constructed between Delhi and Meerut.

"Meerut Metro with its commuter-centric design and modern features, will provide a seamless and comfortable commuting experience for the residents of Meerut," NCRTC posted on X.

For the convenience of the commuters of Meerut, four stations of RRTS and 13 stations of Meerut Metro are being constructed within Meerut.

These will include Meerut South, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul (underground) and Modipuram RRTS stations, on which both RRTS and Meerut Metro services will be available.

Partapur, Rithani, Brahmapuri, Meerut Central (underground), Bhainsali (underground), MES Colony, Daurali, Meerut North and Modipuram Depot are additional Meerut Metro stations that will provide services with a three-coach metro train.
