Adhir Ranjan Choudhury with Rahul Gandhi
West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed suspicion of someone pelting stones at Rahul Gandhi's car as Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra passed through Malda on Wednesday (31 January).
"Maybe someone at the back pelted a stone amid the crowd. Police force is overlooking that. A lot can happen due to overlooking. This is a small incident but something big could have happened too," Chowdhury said.
"If a personality like Rahul Gandhi's security is overlooked... We were not given the desired space and had to come to the open field. Here there are no security arrangements. They wanted something to happen," he added.
In a post on X, Congress said, "A huge crowd had come to meet Rahul ji in Malda, West Bengal. In this crowd, a woman suddenly came in front of Rahul ji's car to meet him, due to which the brakes were suddenly applied."
Explaining that the glass of the car broke due to the rope used in the security circle, Congress said, "Jan Nayak Rahul Gandhi is fighting for justice against the injustice being done to the people. The public is with him, the public is keeping him safe."
