Ministry Of Defence To Host National Workshop On Indigenising UAV And C-UAS Technologies Amid Evolving Strategic Needs Post Operation Sindoor

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) will host a Workshop and Exhibition on the indigenisation of critical components used in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) on Wednesday (16 July), as per a official press statement .
The event, organised by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) in collaboration with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), will take place at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
The workshop comes in the wake of recent India-Pakistan hostilities, including Operation Sindoor, which highlighted the strategic importance of UAVs and C-UAS in modern warfare.
These technologies were crucial in real-time operations, providing enhanced situational awareness, precision targeting, and reduced risk to human personnel, demonstrating the growing reliability of indigenous defence systems.
The event aims to chart a clear roadmap for achieving full indigenisation of UAV and C-UAS platforms by bringing together defence experts, policymakers, military leadership, scientists, and private industry.
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan will be the Chief Guest at the event.
Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, will deliver the closing address, outlining the key takeaways and presenting a strategic policy document focused on indigenising critical subcomponents currently sourced from foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
According to the Ministry, this initiative is part of India’s broader Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission and aims to bolster national security, enhance defence readiness, and establish India as a global leader in advanced unmanned systems.
The event will also feature expert talks, technology showcases, and live demonstrations of indigenous systems.
