A review meeting headed by Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials on Monday (6 October) focused on expediting major infrastructure projects in Thane and Mira-Bhayandar, with year-end deadlines set for several works.

The authority emphasised that construction on Metro Lines 9 [Dahisar East to Mira-Bhayander] and 4 [Kasarvadavali to Bhakti Park (Wadala)] must be completed by 15 and 31 December 2025, respectively.

Officials noted that timely delivery of the lines would significantly benefit daily commuters and reduce congestion.

Parallelly, the concretisation of the 10.32 km service road from Kapurbawdi to Gaimukh, part of Ghodbunder Road, was directed to be finished and integrated with the main road by 31 December.

Similarly, work on the road stretch between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue and the Maharana Pratap Statue in Mira-Bhayandar is to be accelerated.

A review of the proposed car shed projects at Dongri and Mogarpada was also carried out.

In a bid to preserve local identity, it was decided that future metro stations across Thane and Mira-Bhayandar should be named after the original villages in which they are located.

Officials highlighted that this move would help create an identity for the culture and traditions of those villages, ensuring modern transport infrastructure remains connected with regional heritage.
