Mohali IT City Set For Global-Standard Landscaping And Urban Makeover Inspired By Delhi Aerocity, Singapore

Punjab's Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is set to transform IT City Mohali into a globally competitive and visually appealing technology hub through comprehensive landscaping and urban beautification works, the Hindustan Times reported.
Spread across 1,722 acres in Sectors 66-B, 82-A, 83-A, and 101-A, adjacent to Airport Road, the area is rapidly emerging as a key centre for innovation and technology.
Currently, IT City hosts over 80 IT companies, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and related enterprises, driving growth in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), and software development.
So far, 80 plots have been allocated, offering a total built-up potential of around 57 lakh sq ft.
The region is expected to generate 1.14 lakh direct jobs and 5 lakh indirect jobs over the next two years.
On Friday, members of the Mohali IT City IT Companies Association met GMADA chief administrator Vishesh Sarangal to discuss plans for beautifying the corridor from Airport Road to IT City and improving internal roads. GMADA will soon appoint a consultant to oversee the project.
During the meeting, Mohali IT City companies association president and CEO & Co-Founder of Netsmartz Group, Manipal Dhariwal, highlighted the need for a visually attractive, globally competitive urban environment to position Mohali as a top-tier IT destination.
“With this initiative, GMADA and the IT City Association aim to transform the IT City corridor into a vibrant, globally recognisable gateway that represents the spirit of innovation, growth, and collaboration driving Punjab’s IT sector,” Dhariwal was quoted as saying by HT.
A senior GMADA officer added that the Authority intends to develop the corridor to international standards, giving Mohali a distinct global identity while fostering a sense of community among professionals.
GMADA has agreed to float a tender to appoint a world-class architect to design and execute the landscaping and beautification works.
Notably, IT City’s first residential scheme was launched in 2014, followed by subsequent schemes in 2016 and 2018, offering hundreds of residential plots to complement its growing commercial infrastructure.
