India’s first Bullet Train project connecting Mumbai-Ahmedabad has reached a crucial milestone, with 35,000 track slabs manufactured across two dedicated factories, covering approximately 175 track km, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL).
NHSRCL is the implementing agency of the 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR)corridor, also known as Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
The state-of-the-art track slab manufacturing facilities have been set up to support the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor.
According to NHRSCL, the state-of-the-art track slab manufacturing factory in Anand for Bullet Train Project T-3 Package is designed to produce ballastless track slabs (J-slab) of different sizes, as required.
The factory is strategically located near the alignment at 436 km (will be serving for km 393 to 508). This proximity to the project site ensures efficient logistics and timely delivery of track slabs for the bullet train construction.
This facility will produce track slabs for 115 route km of high speed rail track for 352 km MAHSR corridor in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (352 km).
"Till date nearly 35000 track slabs have been cast (from two factories), which are equivalent to nearly 175 track km," NHSRCL said in a statement.
The pre-cast reinforced concrete track slabs are generally 2220 mm wide, 4900 mm long and 190 mm thick and each slab weighs about 4 tonnes.
The track slab manufacturing factory at Anand is designed to produce 60 slabs per day, ensuring high efficiency and a steady supply of critical components for India’s first Bullet Train project.
The production scope of this factory is the manufacturing of nearly 46000 J-slabs, according to NHSRCL.
To support the large production volume, the factory is equipped with an extensive stacking capacity of 24000 track slabs, it added.
