Mumbai Metro Line 4 Achieves 84.5 Per Cent Completion As MMRDA Installs 58 M Steel Span Over Pantnagar-Ghatkopar Bus Station Area

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has marked a major achievement in the construction of Mumbai’s Metro Line 4 (Wadala–Kasarvadavli) by installing a 58-metre-long steel span over the Pantnagar–Ghatkopar Bus Station in Ghatkopar East.
The operation was carried out over just two nights despite heavy rain and other challenges.
"Lifted and placed a 58-meter-long steel span over a Pantnagar-Ghatkopar bus station area in just 2 nights, keeping the city moving while we worked. Despite heavy rain, nearby ongoing traffic on Andheri Ghatkopar Link Road and limited space due to nearby Somaiyya nallah, extra resources were deployed to keep the work going smoothly without any interruptions," the MMRDA said.
The steel span, measuring 3.1 metres in height and weighing 450 tonnes, was constructed using five steel girders. It was lifted into place with the help of high-capacity cranes — 700 metric tonne and 500 metric tonne — supported by backup cranes of 500 tonnes and 80 tonnes.
With this installation, the Metro Line 4 project is now 84.5 percent complete.
Once finished, the 32.32-km corridor will enhance east–west connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, reduce congestion on existing transport routes, and improve commuting efficiency.
MMRDA extended its thanks to government departments and partner agencies for their support in completing what it described as a milestone that brings the city closer to a faster, more seamless transit future.
