The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched a shuttle service to connect the Ghaziabad RRTS (Namo Bharat) station with the Shaheed Sthal Metro Station of Delhi Metro, aiming to improve last-mile connectivity for commuters, according to PTI.
According to an official statement, the service will operate via e-rickshaws, covering the 300-metre distance between the two transport hubs during peak hours.
The service is free of charge, ensuring a “comfortable, safe, and hassle-free transfer” for passengers. This initiative aligns with NCRTC’s focus on sustainability by promoting eco-friendly transportation options.
The Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station is strategically located at Meerut Tiraha Mor, a key intersection on the Ghaziabad-Meerut route, which witnesses heavy daily footfall.
To further improve accessibility, a foot-over bridge linking the Shaheed Sthal Metro Station and the Namo Bharat Station is under construction. Until its completion, the shuttle service will remain operational to provide uninterrupted connectivity.
Additionally, Ghaziabad City Transport Services Limited operates electric buses offering last-mile connectivity across seven routes, including Sahibabad, DPS Rajnagar, and Modi Nagar. Taxi services with discounts for Namo Bharat commuters are also available.
This initiative by NCRTC’s is done to cater to passenger needs, with plans to expand the shuttle fleet based on demand.
