Indian Railways has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (FLS) for a new 72-kilometre rail line connecting Marwar Junction to Devgarh Madaria via Todgarh–Ravali in Rajasthan, the Indian Express reported.

The project, under the administrative control of North Western Railway (NWR), aims to strengthen connectivity in the region, linking towns such as Rajsamand, Udaipur, and Pali while reinforcing the rail corridor between Ahmedabad and Jaipur.

Tourist destinations, including Devgarh Madaria and Todgarh have so far relied on limited transport options.

According to NWR, the new line will facilitate rail access to historical and natural tourist sites and provide enhanced transportation options for trade, agriculture, and local industries.

Following the completion of the FLS, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared based on the financial and technical feasibility of the project.

The DPR will then be submitted to the Railway Board for final approval before construction begins.

Once completed, this upgrade will provide direct rail connectivity from the region to major cities across India, including Jaipur, Delhi, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.

The new 72-km rail line and the ongoing gauge conversion are part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to improve infrastructure in Rajasthan, enhance regional economic development, and support tourism.

These projects are expected to integrate remote and previously underserved areas with the national railway network, facilitating smoother movement of passengers and goods while opening new opportunities for local businesses and communities.
