No New Air-To-Air AMRAAMs Missiles For Pakistan — Only Spares and Support: US Clarifies On "False" Media Reports

The United States Embassy in India issued a clarification on Friday (10 October), refuting media reports that claimed Washington had approved the sale of new Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Pakistan.
The embassy’s clarification comes amid concerns raised in Indian media and defense circles regarding potential US military support to Pakistan.
In an official statement on Friday (10 October), the embassy emphasised that the contract modification announced by the US Department of War on 30 September was purely related to “sustainment and spares” for existing systems already in Pakistan’s possession.
The US embassy underlined that the deal does not include the supply of new missiles or any enhancement of Pakistan’s existing military capabilities.
“On September 30, 2025, the Department of War released a list of standard contract announcements, which referred to an amendment to an existing Foreign Military Sales contract for sustainment and spares for several countries, including Pakistan," the statement said.
The AIM-120 AMRAAM is a modern beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile used by several NATO and allied air forces. It is capable of engaging aerial targets at distances exceeding 100 km, guided by active radar homing technology.
Pakistan operates these missiles primarily with its F-16 fighter fleet, supplied by the United States under earlier defense cooperation programmes.
