Noida is set to witness the construction of a huge cloverleaf interchange close to the Mahamaya flyover to connect the under-construction Chilla Elevated Road with a newly proposed expressway along Yamuna Pushta Road, Times of India reported.

The design of the major interchange would mirror the one built close to AIIMS in Delhi, providing smooth connectivity between the new road and the Yamuna Expressway.

The elevated road, planned to run from Kalindi Kunj to the Yamuna Expressway, will help decongest the congested Noida-Greater Noida corridor.

The 5.9 km, six-lane Chilla Elevated Road, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 892 crore, will drastically reduce traffic snarls at the Noida entry point.

It is designed to allow commmuters from Mayur Vihar to directly merge onto the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

The new proposed road from Sector 94, with six elevated lanes and eight at ground level, will provide direct connectivity to the upcoming Noida International Airport.

When both roads are connected, they would form a smooth, high-speed corridor for traffic coming from Delhi and Haryana towards Agra, Lucknow, and the airport — bypassing the traffic-congested Noida Expressway.

Meanwhile, in a bold urban makeover initiative, Noida is drawing inspiration from New York's iconic Times Square.

A lively pedestrian-friendly area will be created in Sector 18, which will boast huge LED screens, a chroma wall, live match and movie screenings, and public spaces.

Declared on the Authority's 49th foundation day, the Rs 10 crore complex will start construction in 10 days and is likely to be completed within a year.

Spreading over 6,500 square feet, the facility will have large LED screens to show live matches, shows and movies, as well as a separate kids' play zone and area for more than 250 persons.

The Noida Authority is also considering engaging the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the construction of the new expressway.

Alternatively, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) may be created by Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities to jointly execute the project.
