To enhance connectivity between North Delhi and Ghaziabad, Public Works Department (PWD) has proposed an integrated transit corridor development project, Indian Express reported.

The department has reportedly floated a tender to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed 6-km-long elevated corridor connecting Nanaksar Gurudwara T-Point in Northeast Delhi’s Sonia Vihar Pusta Road to the Delhi-UP corridor near Tronica City.

While the corridor currently falls under the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the PWD—being the expert agency executing roads and flyovers—will hire an agency to carry out the feasibility study, according to officials cited in the IE report.

At present, the proposed corridor faces heavy congestion due to roadside encroachments, traffic snarls caused by vehicles, e-rickshaws, and pedestrian footfall.

The Sonia Vihar water treatment facility, run by Delhi Jal Board, is located near the alignment of the proposed flyover.

Earlier in April, PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra inspected the route and formally announced the project, which is estimated to cost around Rs 500 crore.
