News Brief
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
As Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' is passing through Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked it by saying that it is "not a Nyay Yatra, but Miya Yatra."
Elaborating his statement, Sarma said on Thursday (18 January), "Congress is representing only a section of Muslims. This time not even Muslim women came to Congress' gathering."
"Our progress of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is such that earlier Congress' gatherings used to have both Muslim men and women. However, (Muslim) women did not go this time, slowly, Muslim men will also stop going to their (Congress) gatherings," Sarma added.
Sarma alleged that their family name is not Gandhi, they are carrying a duplicate surname. "I arrest people with duplicate licenses but I do not know what are the consequences of a duplicate title, hence he (Rahul Gandhi) is roaming freely" Sarma added.
These remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi's allegations that the most corrupt CM in the country is the Assam CM and his whole family is involved in corruption. Currently, his yatra is in Assam's Jorhat.
