One-Fourth Of Telangana Budget Allocated For Congress' Welfare Schemes, 200-Acre AI City And Two Industrial Clusters Planned

The Telangana government presented its Rs 3,04,965 crore budget for 2025-26 in the Assembly today, reported The Financial Express.

The budget earmarks Rs 2,26,982 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs 36,504 crore for capital expenditure.

A significant portion of the budget is directed toward welfare programs, with Rs 72,397 crore allocated to key social sectors- SC welfare: Rs 40,232 crore, ST welfare: Rs 17,169 crore, Backward Caste: Rs 11,405 crore and for Minorities Rs 3,591 crore.

Key Initiatives

Mega Master Plan 2050: The state will establish greenfield industrial clusters in Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar to boost industrial growth.


Support for Self-Help Groups (SHGs): The government will provide two high-quality sarees annually to 64.7 lakhs SHG members, with production entrusted to local weavers.

Future City Initiative: A 200-acre AI City is planned to position Telangana as a global AI hub, with Rs 774 crore allocated to the Information Technology Department, for the development of the same.

Agro-Based Industry Development: Nizamabad and Khammam will be developed as key centres for agriculture-based industries and manufacturing.

The government has allocated Rs 56,084 crore for implementing its six election guarantees, including Mahalakshmi Scheme - Rs 4,305 crore, Gruha Jyothi (Free Electricity)- Rs 2,080 crore, Sanna Rice Bonus Rs 1,800 crore, Rajiv Arogya Sri (Healthcare) - Rs 1,143 crore, Gas Cylinder Subsidy - Rs 723 crore, Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa - Rs 600 crore.
