Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has issued a stark warning to US President Donald Trump, saying the real danger isn’t Vladimir Putin — but World War III, India Today reported.
The comment comes after Trump accused Putin of “playing with fire” and claimed that “really bad things” would have already happened in Russia if not for him.
Taking to social media, Medvedev shot back: “Regarding Trump’s words about Putin ‘playing with fire’ and ‘really bad things’ happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing – WWIII. I hope Trump understands this!”
The remarks come at a time when tensions between the US and Russia are escalating once again over the war in Ukraine.
Trump, who has previously boasted about his good relationship with Putin, now seems to be changing tone. “Something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump posted earlier this week, following the drone strike.
The back-and-forth marks a shift in Trump's stance towards Moscow and has alarmed international observers, who worry that such high-voltage rhetoric could make a bad situation worse.
As per a report by India Today, Ukraine and its allies, including the US, have been urging Russia to agree to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. But the Kremlin has so far shown no sign of backing down.
