General Dwivedi: Operation Sindoor’s Impact on LoC Still Too Early to Judge (X)
Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi clarified on Friday (5 September) that Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, did not conclude within three days as many assumed, reported India Today.
Speaking at the launch of Lt Gen KJS (Tiny) Dhillon’s book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story Of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan in New Delhi, he said, “You may be thinking that on May 10, the war finished; no, because it continued for a long time, because so many decisions were to be taken, and beyond that, of course, it will be difficult for me to share here.”
General Dwivedi stressed that it remains too early to evaluate the operation’s full impact on the Line of Control.
He noted that infiltration attempts by Pakistan-backed terrorists still continue along the border.
“Has state-sponsored terrorism ended? I don’t think so, because infiltration attempts are still happening on LOC. And we all know how many terrorists have been killed and how many of them have escaped,” he remarked.
He also reiterated that theaterisation of the armed forces is inevitable, stating, “Theaterisation will happen, whether today or tomorrow. The question is only how long it will take.”
General Dwivedi also welcomed GST reforms, particularly the reduction of GST on drones from 18 per cent to 5 per cent, calling it a boost for procurement, defence corridors, MSMEs, and start-ups.
