Outrage Effect? UP CM Yogi Directs Officials To Respond Promptly To Complaints Of MPs, MLAs; Warns Of Action Otherwise

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sternly directed senior government officials to enforce rigorous measures against any officials or employees who ignore correspondence from MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives regarding public grievances, Indian Express reported.

In compliance with the Chief Minister's instructions, the state's Parliamentary Affairs Department has disseminated a mandate to all critical officers. This includes principal secretaries, director generals of police (DGPs), divisional commissioners, and district magistrates (DM).

The directive was issued following concerns expressed by MPs and MLAs regarding the district officers' disregard for their letters, grievances, and suggestions on local matters.

In a recent conversation with the press, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, alleged that district magistrates overlook public representatives. He further stated that MLAs have been known to go as far as prostrating before DMs to ensure their tasks are accomplished.

Per the directives of the Chief Minister, disciplinary action will be sternly enforced on any officer or employee who neglects letters from public representatives.

In recent times, the problem of district officials ignoring the issues raised by MLAs and MPs has been frequently discussed in the coordination meetings between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the BJP, and the Chief Minister. The MLAs have also expressed their worries about this matter to the Assembly speaker.

In October of the previous year, the Department of Parliamentary Affairs stepped in, issuing directives to all officials in response to a complaint lodged by MPs, MLAs, and MLCs. They were concerned about how these officers were belittling them to emphasise their own significance.
