A total of 41 railway projects covering 5,877 km and costing Rs 81,580 crore are underway in Maharashtra, the Ministry of Railways has informed the Lok Sabha.
These include 16 new line projects, 2 gauge conversion projects, and 23 doubling or multitracking projects.
As of March 2024, 1,926 km out of the sanctioned total has been commissioned.
The expenditure incurred so far on these projects stands at Rs 31,236 crore.
The 41 railway projects include 16 new lines (2,017 km), 2 gauge conversions (609 km), and 23 doubling or multitracking projects (3,251 km).
The minister further said that railway infrastructure projects falling fully or partly in the State of Maharashtra are covered under Central Railway (CR), South Central Railway (SCR), Western Railway (WR), South East Central Railway (SECR) and South Western Railway (SWR) zones of Indian Railways.
