Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has publicly acknowledged the country’s historical role in supporting terrorist groups, news agency ANI reported.
In a now-viral interview with Sky News presenter Yalda Hakim, Asif responded to a pointed question about Pakistan’s history of aiding terrorist.
"But you do admit, you do admit, sir, that Pakistan has had a long history of backing and supporting and training and funding these terrorist organisations?" Hakim asked.
In response, Asif said, “We have been doing this dirty work for the United States for about 3 decades... and the West, including Britain... That was a mistake, and we suffered for that, and that is why you are saying this to me. If we had not joined the war against the Soviet Union and later on the war after 9/11, Pakistan's track record was unimpeachable.”
Asif also warned of the possibility of an “all-out war” with India.

Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Altaf Lalli was killed in an encounter in Bandipora on Friday, days after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead.

Guree had illegally travelled to Pakistan in 2018 where he received training, before resurfacing last year.

A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced by the authorities for information leading to their arrest.
Meanwhile, two security personnel were injured in a firefight with terrorists in Bandipora district during a joint Army–Police operation.

Before beginning his speech at the public gathering in Madhubani, Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon attendees to observe a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Prime Minister said that countrymen are shocked by the Pahalgam terror attack.
"I want to say this in very clear words: those terrorists who carried out this attack, and those who conspired it, will face a punishment far beyond their imagination. They will be punished. The time has come to wipe out even the last remaining ground held by terrorists. The willpower of 140 crore Indians will now crush the backbone of those who sponsor terror," PM Modi said in Hindi.
In what was clearly a message to the global community, PM Modi switched to English and said, "Friends, today, from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done. The entire nation stands united in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people and leaders of various countries who have stood with us in this time."

Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC visa Exemption scheme.

A day after 25 tourists and a local resident were killed by terrorists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif denied any involvement on Wednesday, stating, “We have absolutely nothing to do with it. We reject terrorism in all its forms and everywhere".
However, Indian authorities reportedly remain unconvinced. Initial investigations, based on eyewitness accounts, indicate that four militants—two of whom are suspected to be foreign nationals—were involved and wore camouflage.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a front for the banned Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has reportedly claimed responsibility, raising questions over Islamabad’s denial.
The attack comes a week after provocative remarks by Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir, who described Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein.”
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, led by a DIG-rank officer, visited the Baisaran meadow, site where the deadly terror attack took place yesterday, to support Jammu and Kashmir Police in the probe.
“The NIA team members will be assisting the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the investigation,” sources were quoted as saying by ANI.
The NIA is expected to conduct forensic assessments and identify those involved.
With over three dozen injured and multiple civilian deaths, the Ministry of Home Affairs is likely to formally hand over the case to NIA soon.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who reached Srinagar just hours after the horrific attack, has pledged decisive action and assured that those responsible “will not be spared”.
Claims of Targeting Intelligence Officials In Pahalgam Refuted
In the face of allegations by some social media handles that the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack were associated with intelligence agencies, official sources have rejected them as "erroneous."
Flyers circulated on the internet asserted the victims were RAW and IB officials.
However, sources cited in a report by news agency ANI said that the unsubstantiated rumour circulated by some X handles and TV channels that a number of IB officers were injured is "erroneous".
They verified that just one IB official on leave was killed in front of his family, not several. Civilians were targeted in the attack.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the devastated families of victims today outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar, a day after Tuesday's terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag.

At least 26 people, including two foreign nationals, were killed in a brutal terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow—popularly known as ‘mini Switzerland’—on Tuesday.
The terrorists, disguised in army uniforms and armed with automatic weapons, opened fire, triggering chaos in the remote, foot-accessible terrain.
Intelligence sources link the attack to The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, with reports suggesting it was orchestrated under the guidance of Saifullah Kasuri, a close aide of Hafiz Saeed, with involvement from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir operatives.
The incident prompted a swift national response. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his Saudi Arabia visit, was briefed at the Delhi airport by top security officials, and chaired an emergency Cabinet Committee on Security meeting.
Home Minister Amit Shah also traveled to Srinagar after a high-level review.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders condemned the attack and called for an all-party meet to review the deteriorating security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
