In a significant development, intelligence sources have reported the death of Lakhbir Singh Rode, a notorious Khalistani terrorist and the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, in Pakistan.
As reported NDTV, the 72-year-old, who had fled to Pakistan following Bhindranwale's demise, reportedly succumbed to a heart attack on 2 December.
His involvement in terror activities against India, including the smuggling of drugs, weapons, explosives, and tiffin bombs to Punjab, has long been a cause for concern.
Earlier, the National Investigation Agency conducted raids in October, seizing properties in Punjab's Moga in connection with six terror cases against Rode, covering his alleged involvement in terror activities between 2021 and 2023.
The news comes as a reminder of the persistent challenges India faces in dealing with cross-border terrorism and the imperative of maintaining robust intelligence operations to safeguard the nation's integrity.
