The Pakistani Army opened "unprovoked" fire at Indian posts across the Line of Control (LoC) last night amid escalating tensions between the two countries over the massacre of 26 civilians at a tourist hotspot in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
This is the second time in two nights that Pakistani troops have resorted to unprovoked firing on the LoC.
Indian Army responded proportionally to ensure border security.
Multiple locations along the LoC witnessed the firing from Pakistani side, with Indian forces retaliated appropriately.
On Friday too, Pakistan violated the ceasefire, merely days after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed at least 26 people, primarily tourists, and injured several others.
In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have launched a large-scale manhunt for five to six terrorists linked to the killings.
Images of suspects Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha have been made public, with a Rs 20 lakh reward announced for anyone providing credible information about their whereabouts.
Following the terror attack, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, citing "sustained cross-border terrorism by Pakistan".
In a strong message from Delhi, Water Minister CR Patil threatened that "not a drop" of the Indus water would flow to Pakistan.
