Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead By BSF In Punjab Amid Heightened Border Tensions Post Operation Sindoor

A Pakistani intruder was shot and killed by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday (8 May), officials reported. 

The incident took place near Gate No. 207 at the Lakha Singhwala Hithar BSF checkpost in Punjab’s border district of Mamdot.

BSF troops noticed suspicious movement near the international border. Despite being challenged, the intruder continued advancing towards the border security fence under the cover of darkness, prompting the BSF to open fire. 

This incident follows closely on the heels of Operation Sindoor, India’s recent military strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In response, security has been heightened across Punjab’s border districts, with paramilitary forces placed on high alert and additional precautions taken to prevent infiltration.

Hours after India targeted nine terror camps in PoJK, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday directed the chiefs of paramilitary forces to maintain high alert in states bordering Pakistan and Nepal.

On the same night, Pakistan launched a coordinated drone and missile attack aimed at multiple military installations across northern and western India, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Bhuj. All incoming threats were successfully intercepted and neutralised by India’s S-400 air defence systems, known as the “Sudarshan Chakra.”
