PM Modi And Spanish President Sanchez Unveil India's First Private Military Aircraft Facility, Tata-Airbus To Produce C-295

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex, which will manufacture the C-295 aircraft at the TATA Advance System Limited (TASL) campus in Vadodara.
This facility, the country’s first private sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft, will manufacture the C-295 aircraft for tactical transport and logistics support.
The C-295 aircraft, replacing India’s aging Avro-748 fleet, is designed to transport up to 71 troops or 50 paratroopers to locations currently inaccessible to larger aircraft.
Under the "Make in India" aerospace initiative in the private sector, 56 C-295 aircraft will be manufactured, with 16 delivered from Airbus in Spain and the remaining 40 built at the Vadodara facility.
On his first official visit to India, marking the first by a Spanish Prime Minister in 18 years, Sanchez announced that the first aircraft manufactured by TASL would be completed by 2026.
"This project strengthens our industrial ties while underlying our country’s deep commitment as a reliable and strategic partner. And it shows as well the capabilities of the Spanish defense industry,” he added.
PM Modi, while addressing the crowd, emphasised that the Tata-Airbus manufacturing facility will strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
“It is the first tour of Pedro Sanchez to India. From today, we are giving new direction to the India-Spain partnership. We are inaugurating a factory for manufacturing of C295 aircraft. Not only it will bolster the ties of India and Spain, it will also bolster the mission of ‘make in India, make for the world’. I congratulate the teams of Tata and Airbus,” Modi said.
