The BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to select candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi from a list of 17 to 18 names finalised after discussions with the party's state unit.

The CEC meeting, to be held at the BJP headquarters, will be attended by Prime Minister Modi and is expected to result in the announcement of the first list of candidates later this week as per a report by The Indian Express.

Among the probable candidates are incumbent MP Manoj Tiwari for the North East Delhi constituency, Ajay Mahawar from Ghonda Assembly, Bansuri Swaraj, Anil Sharma, and Satish Upadhyay for New Delhi, Yogender Chandolia and Dushyant Gautam for North West Delhi, and Parvesh Verma, Kuljeet Chahal, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat for West Delhi.

The panel of candidates was finalised after discussions involving BJP's senior leadership from Delhi, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

While the final selection usually includes around 80 per cent of the names from the panel, surprises are possible, especially for seats like New Delhi and South Delhi, where several union ministers are seeking candidature.
