PM Modi: Self-Reliant India Strikes Back Against Terrorism

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that self-reliant India no longer remains silent in the face of terrorism but delivers befitting responses through surgical strikes, airstrikes and Operation Sindoor.

Speaking at the NDTV World Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Modi told the audience that the era of a silent India is over.

The Prime Minister referred to Operation Sindoor, India's major counter-terrorism offensive conducted on 7 May 2025, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan's Punjab province.

The coordinated strikes by the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army used advanced stand-off precision missiles to destroy multiple facilities linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, neutralising over 100 terrorists.

The operation was executed in direct retaliation for the 22 April terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

Modi positioned the operation as a demonstration of India's defence self-reliance, emphasising that indigenous capabilities, including Made-in-India weapons, enable the country to act decisively and independently.

These actions, he argued, embody a new India that is self-assured and resolute, prioritising national security whilst fostering regional stability.

Beyond security, the Prime Minister highlighted India's economic resilience amid global turmoil, noting an average economic growth rate of 7.8 per cent over the past three years.

He stated that whilst the world faced conflicts and wars following COVID, India kept moving forward.
