PM Modi To Flag Off Suzuki’s First Global Battery Electric Vehicle From Gujarat On 26 August

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat on 25–26 August, where he is set to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 5,400 crore across infrastructure, energy, transport and urban development.

The highlight of the visit will be the launch of Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle, the “e VITARA”, from Hansalpur, Ahmedabad on 26 August.

A symbol of Make in India, the model will be manufactured in Gujarat and exported to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan, positioning India as Suzuki’s global hub for electric mobility.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the start of localised production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Plant, a joint venture of Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki.

According to a PMO statement, this development ensures that more than eighty percent of the battery value will now be manufactured within India.

Earlier on 25 August, PM Modi will address a public function at Khodaldham ground in Ahmedabad, where he will dedicate projects covering railways, roads, power distribution and housing.

Road projects include the widening of the Viramgam–Khudad–Rampura road and the construction of six-lane underpasses and overbridges, aimed at easing congestion in Ahmedabad and its outskirts.

In the power sector, distribution modernisation works worth more than Rs 1,000 crore in Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Gandhinagar will reduce breakdowns, improve transformer protection and strengthen reliability of supply.

Urban initiatives under PMAY (U), slum rehabilitation projects and road-widening along the Sardar Patel Ring Road will also be launched.
