PM Narendra Modi flagging off Vande Bharat train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off two cutting-edge trains—the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail and the Amrit Bharat Express on 24 April, reported ANI.
Hailing Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat as the “Triveni” of India’s modern railway revolution, the Prime Minister has envisioned these trains as cornerstones of future mobility.
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, making its second appearance after the Ahmedabad-Bhuj route, will run between Jayanagar and Patna.
This Make-in-India train will feature 16 air-conditioned coaches, an upgrade from the earlier 12, and can accommodate over 2,000 passengers, said Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publication, Ministry of Railways.
Designed for short intercity travel, it boasts advanced features including the Kavach automatic protection system, CCTV surveillance, fire detection and suppression, emergency talk-back units, international-standard ergonomic seating, vacuum toilets, dual USB charging, and disabled-friendly washrooms. Dual loco-pilot cabins and dust-proof gangways ensure efficiency and safety.
This non-AC sleeper train, built under the Make-in-India initiative, offers modern features at an affordable price, including push-pull technology, spring-suspension seats, illuminated flooring, onboard condition monitoring, and aerosol-based fire suppression.
Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate three new rail lines: Supaul–Pipra, Khagaria–Alouli, and Hasanpur–Vithan. Passenger services on these routes will commence immediately, significantly improving regional connectivity.
New trains between Pipra and Saharsa and Samastipur and Saharsa via Vithan and Alouli will also be flagged off.
