Ports Every 50 Km, Rs 26,000 Crore Investment, 35,000 Jobs: CM Naidu Unveils Andhra’s Port-Based Growth Plan

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday (13 May) announced an ambitious plan to develop a port-based economy by leveraging the state's 1,000 kilometre-long coastline.
The state will establish a port or fishing harbour every 50 kilometres, aimed at accelerating economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing coastal infrastructure, PTI reported.
“We have unveiled a strategic plan to build a port-based economy by harnessing Andhra Pradesh’s 1,000-kilometre coastline,” said Naidu in a press release.
As part of a central government's bifurcation-era commitment, a major infrastructure initiative has been proposed — the establishment of a Ship Building and Repair Cluster at Dugarajapatnam in Nellore district.
The project will be developed across 2,000 acres, with 1,000 acres dedicated to core shipbuilding and the remaining for ancillary industries.
Naidu stated that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be created to attract global players to the shipbuilding sector.
The project is projected to bring Rs 26,000 crore in investments, along with the creation of 5,000 direct jobs and 30,000 indirect jobs.
The Chief Minister has instructed officials to draft a detailed action plan to fast-track implementation and ensure timely execution of the proposed infrastructure.
He also stressed the importance of enhancing cargo movement through Visakhapatnam Port, identifying it as vital to the state’s broader economic vision.
