Post-Operation Sindoor Lessons To Be Integrated Into Theatre Commands Model: CDS General Anil Chauhan

India's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said on Tuesday (4 November) that the armed forces have drawn “more lessons” from Operation Sindoor, which must be incorporated into India’s planned theaterisation model, The Hindu reported.

Speaking at the India Defence Conclave 2025, hosted by defence think-tank Bharat Shakti, Gen Chauhan Chauhan added that “better operational preparedness, 24x7” should be the new standard for the armed forces, alongside stronger capabilities in air defence, counter-UAS systems, and electronic warfare.

“We should be better prepared… because that is the kind of warfare which we are expecting,” he said.

General Chauhan stressed the need for India’s armed forces to maintain technological superiority over adversaries, noting that future operations would require capabilities to engage not just static but also mobile targets.

He also pointed out that holding the recent Combined Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata was a strategic decision meant to convey a broader message.

Drawing from experiences such as Uri, Balakot, Galwan, Doklam, and the Covid crisis, he stressed that the goal of the theaterisation plan is to establish an adaptable, “all-season” organisational structure that seamlessly integrates the Army, Navy, and Air Force into unified commands.
