Prajwal Revanna To Appear Before SIT On 31 May In Sexual Abuse Case, Says Was In Depression After Allegations Surfaced

Accused of sexually assaulting hundreds of women, Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] MP Prajwal Revanna released a video on Monday (27 May) expressing readiness to join the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.

After voting in his constituency on 26 April, Revanna left India on 27 April and went to Germany. He claimed that his trip was pre-planned and later he came to know about the allegations against him.

He said that the SIT was formed only after he had already left India and accused Rahul Gandhi and many other Congress leaders of a political conspiracy against him.

He said that after seeing such allegations he went into a depression and remained in isolation for some time.

This comes after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a show-cause notice against him questioning why his diplomatic passport should not be cancelled.

A few days ago, former Prime Minister and Revanna's grandfather, H D Deve Gowda had also asked Revanna to surrender to police.

Earlier, the SIT set up by the Karnataka government to probe the sexual abuse charges also issued lookout circulars, and Interpol issued a "Blue Corner Notice" to locate the MP.
