A sculpture named "Cry of the Hour" has been unveiled at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata as a heartfelt tribute to the trainee doctor who was tragically raped and murdered.

The sculpture, a bust created by acclaimed artist Asit Sain, symbolizes the pain and terror the victim endured. It is positioned on a pedestal near the PGB Gardens, close to the principal's office.

The protesting doctors said that this sculpture serves as a permanent reminder of the tragedy. "This is an emotional moment for all of us," a junior doctor was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

"She was our colleague, and we’ve been fighting for her. Though she remains in our hearts, this memorial will ensure her memory is never forgotten," the doctor added.

Moreover, doctors have amplified their calls for justice. The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front (WBJDF) has organised a major rally, inviting participation from all sectors of society.

A WBJDF statement alleged the Mamata Banerjee-led government has shown no goodwill towards the call for the eradication of fear-based politics in every hospital and medical college in the state.

"No inquiry committees have been established against the heads of the current threat syndicate in healthcare, and no initiatives have been taken by the government to form elected student councils in colleges," it added.

Senior doctors, various organisations of nurses, doctors from private hospitals, IT worker organisations, various groups from the film industry, and other social organisations have also expressed their support for the program.

"Let our protest continue for justice for Abhaya, for a healthy, people-oriented, fear-free healthcare system, and above all, to eliminate the politics of fear from society," a junior doctor said.
