Pune Metro Section, Bidkin Industrial Area And More: Rs 11,200 Crore Projects Launched By PM Modi In Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched various projects worth over Rs 11,200 crore in Maharashtra today (29 September) via video-conferencing.

Among the projects launched today, PM Modi inaugurated the Pune Metro section of District Court to Swargate which will also mark the completion of Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1).

The cost of the underground section between District Court to Swargate is around Rs 1,810 crore.

He also dedicated to the nation Bidkin Industrial Area, a project covering an area of 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, situated 20 km south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra.

The project developed under Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor holds immense potential as a vibrant economic hub in the Marathwada region.

The Centre has approved this project with an overall project cost of over Rs 6,400 crore for development in three phases.

PM Modi also inaugurated the Solapur Airport which would improve connectivity, making Solapur more accessible to tourists, business travellers and investors.

The existing terminal Building of Solapur has been revamped to serve around 4.1 lakh passengers annually. 


This southern extension of around 5.46 km is completely underground with three stations namely Market Yard, Padmavati and Katraj. 

He also laid the foundation stone for the Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada. 

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, PM Modi said that the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP Mahayuti government in is working day and night for ensuring "ease of living" in Pune city.

"Our dream is to enhance the ease of living in Pune city, and I am glad to note that we are moving rapidly in that direction. Today, with the blessings of Lord Vitthal, His devotees have also received a special gift - the work of upgrading the airport to provide direct air connectivity to Sholapur has been completed," he said.

PM Modi also slammed previous governments in Maharashtra for delay in Pune Metro project.

He said that for the progress of the Maharashtra, continuity of the government that prioritises development is necessary.

"In eight years, the previous government failed to construct even a single metro pillar, but our government has successfully built a state-of-the-art metro network in Pune," PM Modi said.

"Be it projects related to metro, Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train or several important works related to irrigation for farmers... Before the double engine government, many such projects important for the development of Maharashtra had been derailed," he added.
