Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday (27 June) cemented his status as the longest-serving Bharatiya Janata Party CM in the 25-year history of the state, reported The New Indian Express.
With this accomplishment, he also becomes the second longest-serving Chief Minister in the history of the state, with the record still held by the late Congress stalwart Narain Dutt Tiwari, who served a full five-year tenure.
Dhami's tenure now surpasses all his BJP predecessors, including Bhuvan Chand Khanduri, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and Trivendra Singh Rawat.
Rawat's abrupt ouster, just a week before he completed his four-year term on 10 March 2021, paved the way for Dhami's rise as BJP CM.
Subsequently, the party entrusted leadership to Pushkar Singh Dhami, a three-time MLA and protégé of former Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
Trivendra Singh Rawat served as chief minister for 3 years and 357 days, while Chief Minister Dhami served for 3 years and 358 days.
