Dr S Jaishankar in Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar on Monday (29 July) emphasised the progress made in the Quad partnership of India, the US, Japan and Australia during Foreign Ministers' meeting in Tokyo, Japan.
After an "extremely productive and detailed" meeting with his Japanese, American and Australian counterparts, Kamikawa Yoko, Antony Blinken and Penny Wong respectively, the EAM said that the Quad is systemically embedded in our respective foreign policies.
Praising the expansive agenda of Quad, Jaishankar highlighted fostering maritime partnerships, increasing connectivity, ensuring energy security, supporting dialogue and sharing benefits of technology with the Global South.
"Our four countries – all democratic polities, pluralistic societies and market economies – are working together for a free and open Indo-Pacific, for a rules-based order and for global good," Jaishankar said.
He added that a strong interactive dynamic bilaterally and trilaterally as well is enhancing the value of Quad. "Quad is a contemporary example of trusted partners and international cooperation," the EAM concluded.
