The BJP has raised questions about Congress and Rahul Gandhi's silence over the atrocities on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Friday (9 August), Anurag Singh Thakur said that leaders from various political parties had expressed concern over the developments in Bangladesh and had also discussed the safety of minority communities in the country.

In a post on X on Thursday (8 August), Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mohammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, while also expressing his hope for a swift return to normalcy in the country, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities

Rahul Gandhi also extended his congratulations to Mohammad Yunus through a post on X.

However, Anurag Singh Thakur pointed out that Gandhi did not address the security concerns of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh.

"What is the compulsion behind their silence?," he asked.

BJP spokesperson C R Kesavan accused the Congress of hypocrisy in a post on X.

He stated, “Blatant hypocrisy of the Crooked Congress. On issues like Gaza, long prompt social media posts were put out by the Congress to draw attention to the issues people faced there. PM @narendramodi ji urged Mohammad Yunus to ensure the safety of Hindus and all other minorities, when congratulating him. However, there has been deafening hypocritical radio silence from the Congress on the safety and welfare of Hindus and other minorities in neighbouring Bangladesh".
