On Thursday (5 December), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made serious accusations against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that he is in cahoots with international forces and investigative media platforms allegedly aiming to destabilise India.

These claims were made during a fiery Lok Sabha session that was adjourned due to intense protests from both parties. BJP leaders K Laxman and Sambit Patra cited a report from French news outlet Mediapart to back their allegations.

Patra claimed that entities like billionaire George Soros, US-based agencies, and the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) were part of a "dangerous triangle" with Gandhi, seeking to incite instability in India.

In a press conference, "I have no hesitation in saying he (Gandhi) is a traitor of the highest order," said Patra during a press conference and accused the OCCRP, which is heavily funded by Soros and US agencies, of using its platform to publish reports critical of India that Gandhi then used against the government.

In the National Herald Case, Patra highlighted that the OCCRP characterised the legal proceedings involving Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as "politically motivated," suggesting it is part of a larger anti-India agenda.

Patra accused Gandhi of acting against the country's interests, stating, "Rahul Gandhi does not want India to move ahead. He does not want the Indian Parliament to function."

He also insinuated that Gandhi's actions are timed to coincide with Parliament sessions, intending to disrupt them with "fake" news. BJP MP K. Laxman voiced similar views, claiming that the Congress and its allies are working with anti-India forces to push disruptive agendas.

The Congress has not yet provided a comprehensive response, but previous responses to similar charges have dismissed them as a diversion.
