Kolkata-based SPML Infra Limited has secured a Rs 385 crore contract under the Jal Jeevan Mission to upgrade the water supply system in Ajmer, Rajasthan, reported Free Press Journal.

The project, part of the central government’s effort to ensure clean drinking water for every rural household, is for the Kekri-Sarwar Sector Package-III.

Under the contract, SPML Infra will develop a modern Water Production and Supply System, with a 10-year Operation & Maintenance (O&M) contract to ensure smooth functioning.

The Kekri Water Supply Scheme to be implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission aims to upgrade and strengthen the water supply infrastructure for the Kekri-Sarwar region, while also enhancing the water production and distribution system in Ajmer district, drawing water from the Bisalpur Dam.

This significant infrastructure development project will enhance water supply capabilities in the region and contribute to the Government's mission of ensuring safe drinking water for every household in the country

The company will also construct two large clear water reservoirs—one with 20 MLD capacity at Kekri and another with 17.75 MLD at Nasirabad—to store treated water before distribution.

Over 58 kilometers of pipelines will connect the treatment plant to Nasirabad, creating a robust delivery network.

The project will also envisage installation of advanced pumps, electrical and mechanical systems, and SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control.

Additionally, SPML Infra will demolish old structures and build a new office and staff quarters as part of the contract.
