Following the recent swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his deputies Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, Rajasthan is bracing for a notable cabinet expansion on 30 December at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

As reported by Livemint, around 18 to 20 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are expected to take oaths as ministers.

The focus of the cabinet expansion is strategically aligned with addressing caste and regional dynamics, especially in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The objective is to ensure a fair representation of all regions while employing social engineering strategies to inclusively represent major castes in the cabinet.

The final approval for the cabinet appointees is anticipated to follow this meeting.

Meanwhile, the delay in cabinet formation invited criticism from opposition parties in Rajasthan.

"Disappointment has now started spreading among the public because the people of Rajasthan gave a clear mandate to BJP on 3rd December, but even after 22 days, the cabinet has not been formed yet, due to which governance has come to a standstill," former chief minister Ashok Gehlot remarked.

He also urged the government to clarify the situation regarding schemes, emphasising the importance of maintaining continuity in governance.
