The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raised concerns over the accuracy of the post-mortem and autopsy reports in the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Investigators suspect the actual number of external injuries on the victim’s body may have been underreported. The suspicion arises from the fact that both reports only documented injuries on the front of the victim's body.

Sources suggest any reference to injuries on her back might have been omitted. This oversight has prompted officials to question the thoroughness and potential credibility of the reports.

The autopsy listed 15 external injuries and nine internal ones, but the failure to note possible back injuries has aroused suspicions, with investigators considering the possibility of intentional misreporting.

Additionally, procedural flaws in the autopsy process have been identified. The procedure, which took place after sunset on 9 August, was completed in just 70 minutes—a rushed timeline given the gravity of the case.

The Judicial Magistrate, responsible for examining the body and preparing the inquest report, had only 20 minutes to do so, an unusually short amount of time for such a serious case.

Investigators believe this haste may have been intended to expedite the cremation that night, potentially obstructing a second post-mortem that might have uncovered more evidence.

Meanwhile, Jagran reported that the CBI claimed on Thursday that the trainee female doctor had 26 serious injuries resembling those from a group beating.

Investigators believe that it would be impossible for a single person to inflict such injuries. CBI investigators stated that it appears the primary motive of the killer or killers was to kill the female doctor.

Their initial assessment suggests that the rape incident may have been highlighted intentionally to create confusion in the investigation. The CBI said it is committed to uncovering the truth behind these discrepancies.
