Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) began its 'Punjab Bachao Yatra' from Amritsar’s Attari border on Thursday (1 February) with a plan to cover five Lok Sabha and 45 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the state.

During the yatra, the party will distribute a pamphlet that highlights the achievements of the SAD government that ruled Punjab previously in alliance with the BJP and criticises the incumbent Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government.

The pamphlet alleges that the Mann government is "ruining Punjab" as it took an unprecedented loan of Rs 60,000 crore in the last 20 months but did not development works, Indian Express reported.

The pamphlet highlights the AAP government’s failure to maintain law and order, due to which industries are leaving Punjab for Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh and other states.

The yatra will cover five Parliamentary constituencies of Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Ferozepur, Faridkot and Bathinda, which consist of 45 Assembly constituencies, in the month of February.

Responding to it, AAP termed it as the 'Parivar Bachao Yatra' targeting the Badal family. In a post on X, the AAP suggested that the development of Badals is the destruction of Punjab.
