The Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the construction arm of the Ministry of Railways, has been awarded its first Delhi Metro project under Phase IV of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System (DMRTS).

The corridor will link Lajpat Nagar with Saket G Block via a 7.298 km elevated stretch.

“This project will further facilitate smoother, more sustainable, and more efficient public transport in the national capital. The project is valued at approximately Rs 447.42 crore (inclusive of GST) and is expected to be completed within 36 months,” RVNL said in a statement on Tuesday (29 July), news agency PTI reported.

The company officials confirmed that the scope of the work includes the design and construction of an elevated viaduct along with seven station platforms.

Highlighting the significance of the contract, RVNL noted that it reflects its “growing footprint in development of urban transport infrastructure.”

Pradeep Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director of RVNL, emphasised, “This project is a significant opportunity for RVNL to contribute to the future-ready infrastructure of Delhi. We are committed to delivering it with excellence, safety, and innovation, fully aligned with DMRC's vision of creating world-class urban mobility systems.”

RVNL is already engaged in metro rail projects across eight Indian cities, but officials highlighted that this Delhi assignment carries special importance as it marks the company’s entry into the capital’s expanding metro network under Phase IV.
