News Brief
Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath.
The Samajwadi Party led by former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh
Akhilesh Yadav will contest all 70 seats in Uttarakhand in the 2022
Assembly polls. The Samajwadi Party is preparing for the polls and is
working on steering membership drives, on party workers, on shaping
its booth management and on organising district headquarters, tehsil,
block and panchayat level meetings across the state, reports say.
It will also focus on its preparations in both Kumaon and Garhwal
divisions. The party is currently taking feedback from voters and is
shaping its strategy for the assembly contest in the hill state.
Farming related issues, jobs for the youth, price rise, relief from
electricity bill, cost-free irrigation are issues that the Samajwadi
party is expected to take up.
Samajwadi Party leaders have reportedly said that there is resentment
among the voters for the BJP government as it has betrayed the youth,
farmers, people in the backward communities, Dalits and upper castes.
Rajendra Chaudhary, a leader from the Samajwadi Party has been quoted
by the Hindustan Times website as saying: “What has BJP done for
Uttarakhand, apart from changing 3 chief ministers in four and half
years? Mahakumbh fake testing scam, factionalism within the party,
differences among cabinet ministers and legislators, corruption and
lucrative poll announcements by current CM Pushkar Singh Dhami are
some of them. Just less than five months are left but CM Dhami is
making announcements which will leave the state exchequer in debt."
Its supremo Akhilesh Yadav has reportedly said that "the people of
Uttar Pradesh would have faced no problem had Yogi Adityanath not
'migrated' here from Uttarakhand." Yadav's comments on Adityanath in
the context of migrating have reportedly come days after Adityanath
said that families of Kairana in adjoining Shamli district, who had
allegedly "migrated" from here in 2013, will be given compensation.
He is quoted as adding: "He came and recalled exodus, the reality is
that had there been no exodus of the CM from Uttarakhand, our five
years would not have been wasted."
Yadav hit back at the BJP for terming the Samajwadi Party a 'pariwarwadi' party (dynastic party) adding that the BJP is the “biggest pariwarwadi party”. A party statement quoted Yadav as saying: "The BJP is the biggest 'pariwarwadi' party. It does not see its own 'pariwarwad'. .
