Seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with police in Telangana's Mulugu district on Sunday (1 December) morning.
The clash occurred in the Chalpak forests, a week after the Maoists killed two tribal men for allegedly acting as police informers.
Bhadru, 35, the Yellandu-Narsampet area committee commander, was among those killed in the encounter.
The others killed in the encounter were identified as Egolapu Mallaiah, 43, Mussaki Deval, 22, Mussaki Jamuna, 23, Jaisingh, 25, Kishore, 22, and Kamesh, 23.
The Maoists were reportedly armed with AK-47, G3 and INSAS rifles besides other weapons.
However, the Maoists opened fire on the Greyhounds commandos, forcing them to return the fire.
Earlier on 21 November, the extremists hacked to death two persons on suspicion of being police informers in Mulugu district.
The victims were identified as Uika Ramesh and resident Uika Arjun. Ramesh was the secretary of Peruru Gram Panchayat in the same mandal.
