News Brief
Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.
In a move aimed at amplifying India’s united stance against cross-border terroris following Operation Sindoor, the government has announced that seven all-party delegations will visit key partner nations later this month, including members of the United Nations Security Council.
The initiative, a rare bipartisan exercise, seeks to project India’s unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
"The All-Party Delegations will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations," the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said in a statement on Saturday (17 May).
According to the statement, they would carry forth to the world the country's strong message of zero-tolerance against terrorism.
"Members of Parliament from different parties, prominent political personalities, and distinguished diplomats will be part of each delegation," the ministry added.
Each group will be led by a distinguished MP, representing both ruling and opposition parties — a reflection of India’s cohesive internal alignment on the issue.
The seven delegations will be led by:
Shashi Tharoor (Congress)
Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)
Baijayant Panda (BJP)
Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)
Supriya Sule (NCP)
Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)
These outreach efforts follow India’s successful execution of Operation Sindoor, which neutralised terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
On the all-party delegations, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that India is presenting a united front in critical moments.
"In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven All-Party Delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero-tolerance to terrorism. A powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences," he said.
