A towering 90-foot bronze murti of Lord Hanuman has been unveiled near Houstan in United States' Texas state.

Named the Statue of Union, this murti is not only one of the tallest statues globally but also holds the distinction of being the tallest Hanuman murti outside India, the tallest statue in Texas, and the third tallest in the United States. Only the Statue of Liberty in New York (151 feet) and the Pegasus and Dragon in Hallandale Beach, Florida (110 feet) surpass it in height.

The Statue of Union Hanuman murti, unveiled at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, roughly 35 km from Houston, during the Prana Prathishta Mahotsavam from 15 to 18 August, symbolises "selflessness, devotion, and unity," according to the organisers.

They added that the murti was named to honour Lord Hanuman's crucial role in reuniting Lord Ram and Sita.

The festivities began on 15 August, aligning with India's Independence Day, with the main celebrations taking place on 18 August with the grand Pran Prathistha ceremony.

"The rituals, led by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji and overseen by a multitude of Vedic priests and scholars, were a powerful display of devotion and spirituality," the statement said.

The ceremony included a helicopter showering flowers upon the murti, sprinkling of sacred water, and placing a 72-foot-long garland around Lord Hanuman's neck, all while thousands of devotees chanted the names of Shri Ram and Hanuman in unison.
