The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lauded suspended Congress MP Preneet Kaur for voting against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra during the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee's adoption of its report on cash-for-query allegations.

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi expressed gratitude, stating that Kaur had "sided with the truth," emphasising that no right-thinking person would support Moitra.

Nishikant Dubey, another BJP MP, praised Kaur for not compromising with the country's national security, particularly highlighting Punjab's historical commitment to India's identity and national security.

Last month, Dubey filed a complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Moitra of accepting expensive gifts in exchange for sharing her parliamentary login credentials.

The gifts were allegedly from businessman Darshan Hiranandani, who purportedly used her account to post questions against the Adani Group.

Preneet Kaur, a Lok Sabha member from the Congress party and the wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, represents Punjab's Patiala Lok Sabha constituency.

Her recent vote garnered attention, considering her suspension by the Congress party in February 2023 over alleged anti-party activities.

Kaur had been accused of assisting the BJP in Punjab, and the party sought an explanation from her.

She later distanced herself from Congress activities after her husband's removal from the post of chief minister in 2021.
