Indian Railways will launch the special “Swarnim Bharat Yatra” tourist train under the Bharat Gaurav scheme on 14 August from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station to commemorate Independence Day, reported The New Indian Express.
The 'Swarnim Bharat Yatra' train will commemorate India's Independence Day with a 9-night, 10-day journey of significant historical and cultural sites associated with India's freedom movement and legacy.
The first stop is Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Ashram, a pivotal site of Mahatma Gandhi’s freedom movement, in Gujarat.
Passengers will then visit the 15th-century Adalaj Stepwell, followed by a day trip to Modhera’s Sun Temple, and Patan’s UNESCO-listed Rani Ki Vav.
In Kevadia, tourists will visit the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, and the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), passengers will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora Caves and the Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga.
The itinerary also includes Jhansi Fort and Orchha’s historic temples and palaces before returning to Delhi.
The Deluxe AC Tourist Train will offer First AC, Second AC, and Third AC classes with modern amenities such as dining cars, shower cubicles, sensor-based washrooms, foot massagers, and CCTV-enabled security. Boarding points include Delhi Safdarjung, Gurgaon, Rewari, Ringas, Phulera, and Ajmer.
IRCTC has set tour prices at Rs 71,585 (3AC), Rs 81,675 (2AC), Rs 94,845 (1AC Cabin), and Rs 1,01,430 (1AC Coupe), covering train travel, three-star hotel stays, vegetarian meals, transfers, AC sightseeing, insurance, and tour manager services.
