DMK and Congress finalise seat-sharing

Tamil Nadu's ruling party Dravaida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has finalised seat-sharing with its allies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Congress is set to contest nine seats in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat of Puducherry. Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party Of India (CPI) and CPI (Marxist) will contest two seats each.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK) and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) will contest one seat each.

There are 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, of which the DMK-led alliance won 38 in the 2019 elections. This time, the DMK will contest 21 seats, one higher than the 2019 elections.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and AICC general secretaries KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik, and Tamil Nadu in-charge Ajoy Kumar signed the deal at DMK headquarters.
